Access and Management

Account Admins and Editors who belong to Hubs where this Self-Serve feature was turned on now have access to the Players management table.

Creating a New Player

To create a new player, use the “+ Player” button in the top right part of the Players table, and chose the type of player to create.

Player Settings

Please note that some of the fields in the configuration are required and you would not be able to save the player before providing them.

Some of the settings are available for some player types and not available for others. If you can’t see some setting described below on your Player Settings screen, that means this setting is not supported for this player type.

General

Please provide some basic information about this player:

  • Hub (required). AnyClip users connected to hub will see it in the Playe self-serve management table.

  • Player Name (required). You will see this name in your Players management table and in analytics reports. Your viewers will not see this player name.

  • Domain (required): Select a player domain from the dropdown. You will be able to filter or split your various reports by this player domain.

  • Description: the description is not available to the end users and is there for your convenience.

Look and Feel

  • Player logo. Displayed in the top right corner of the player, this 40x40px logo is clickable and can lead to any landing URL you provide. If no logo is uploaded, we will show the AnyClip logo there.

  • Logo landing URL. Provide a URL that will open on click on the player logo. Only available if a Player logo was uploaded.

  • Player Size: choose from "%" (responsive to the <div> where it is embedded) or Fixed, provide an aspect ratio (the proportion between the player's width and height) and width if applicable.

  • Title. This title will be visible to the viewers in the top left corner of the player.

  • Carousel: Select whether to display the Carousel on desktop and/or mobile devices. The AnyClip Carousel shows the playlist in the form of thumbnails displayed below the player.

  • Desktop Carousel Type. Configure the Carousel for desktop devices further, choosing the layout and whether to provide short video descriptions in the carousel.

  • Powered by AnyClip. Enable or disable the display of “Powered by AnyClip” text in the top right corner of the player.

  • Closed Captions. Define whether to display CCs either by default or on user click, or not display at all.

  • Player Controls. Define which controls will be available to the viewers.

    • Resolution Control

    • Playback Speed

    • Full Screen

    • Chaptering. Please note that Chaptering is accessible exclusively for videos in which the feature has been activated.

    • 10 Seconds Rewind

    • Theater Mode (this control will only be displayed on Desktop devices)

  • Social Features. Define whether to display Likes and Views.

  • X-Ray Campaigns. Enable the use of this Player in the X-Ray Campaigns – a fully customizable kind of interaction with your viewers.

  • Color & Size Customization. Customize some of the key player controls even further.

In the right part of the “Look and Feel” screen there is a live Player Preview that will change in response to your configuration.

Switch between Desktop and Mobile preview format to see how your changes affect each version.

Floating

You can define Floating behavior for this player on Desktop and Mobile devices separately.

  • Floating Mode. Specify the player's floating behavior: Always, Floating Only, After In View, or Disabled

  • Style (Mobile only): sets the style of player bar – regular or small.

  • Position: choose player position when in floating mode. Note that for Mobile devices the choices are bottom- or top-right part only, while Desktop has more options.

  • Width: set a separate width for this player when in Floating mode.

  • Delay: controls whether to display the Floating player at once (when set to 0) or after this delay, specified in seconds.

Content Filters

This group of settings controls the content available in your Player, and provides you with extensive options to fine-tune the AI curation for it.

  • Use AnyClip’s Syndicated content. Turn on to allow the player to use videos from AnyClip’s library. Only available if you have access to any Hubs where syndicated content is enabled.

  • Account Sources. Only videos uploaded via selected sources will be displayed in this Player.

Note that either Syndicated Content or at least one upload source is required.

  • Allowed Brand-Safety Categories defines whether to display videos that have Brand Safety flags from the categories you provide. Leave empty to not play videos that have any Brand Safety related tags. This setting only applies to automated playlists, so any content you add manually will be played.

Allowed Languages. Only videos with original audio in the languages you select here will be allowed in this player.

Tags Filter:

Define which tags the videos are supposed to have (or not have) to be played back in this player.

Relationship between tags in the table:

  • Within the same Tag Type:

    • Videos that have at least one tag from the list of tags to include will be available;

    • Videos that have at least one tag from the list of tags to exclude will not be available;

    • “Exclude wins”: If a video has a tag that you opted to exclude and a tag that you opted to include, the video will still not be eligible for playback.

  • Between different Tag Types:

    • The relationship is always 'AND.' This means that only videos that meet the above criteria in each of the types would be eligible to play.

Playback

Define all aspects of playback behavior on different devices.

  • Playback mode. Defines the behavior of the player after loading on a page.

  • Start with sound. Only available in a “Click to play” playback mode. In all other playback modes, the videos would start on mute.

  • Playlist type. Select one of the following options to define how videos are loaded into the player playlist:

    • Relevant Videos: Utilizes AnyClip's AI to automatically play videos most relevant to the content of the article or page.

    • Relevant Videos DE: Similar to "Relevant Videos," but tailored for German-language content.

    • Recent Videos: Plays the most recent videos available for the player.

    • Fallback Playlist Only: Loads only the videos from the Fallback Playlist specified below.

    • Disabled: Limits playback to only the pre-selected videos or playlists as defined in the embed-code parameter. No additional videos will be played.

  • Repeat playlist. Define the player behavior after the whole playlist has been played back.

  • Shuffle video. Only available for Recent and Fallback playlist types.

  • Automatic Skip. When enabled, it would allow your viewers to opt to stay in the current video and continue watching, or, if the viewer doesn’t take an action it will start playing the next video automatically.

  • Fallback playlist. If there aren’t enough relevant or recent videos for the carousel, or if you specifically want to set up this player as a fallback, the player will load a pre-defined playlist that you have curated in the Studio.

Video Ads

Define ads playback and behavior in this player.

  • Desktop Monetization and Mobile Monetization: enable to show video ads in this player on those kinds of devices.

  • Play Ads when Player is not In-View. A player is considered in-view when it is in an active tab and at least 50% of it is on the users’ screen.

  • Max Ads per Video. Enable to limit the number of ads for each video played. If left blank, the number of ads is not limited but defined by the Mid-Roll settings instead.

  • First Ad Request Delay. Enable to not start the playback with an ad. The delay is defined in milliseconds.

  • Ad Indicator. This will display a short text in the top right corner of the player while the ad is playing.

  • Skip Ad Button. Allows the viewers to skip ads.

  • Skip Ad Button Appears After (ms): allows the viewer to skip ads only after watching the ad for this amount of time. This delay is set in milliseconds. Set to 1 to display “Skip Ad” immediately.

  • Mid-Roll Settings. Set the mid-roll interval for viewable and non-viewable state of the player on different devices. Click on the interval number to change it.

Please note that changing the settings like “Ad Indicator”, “Skip Ad Button” or “Mid-Roll Settings” can influence the page ranking in search results, or buyers’ behavior for the ads in this player.

By default these settings are provided in accordance with the most recent guidelines to avoid any negative effects. Please exercise caution when changing them.

Display Ads

  • Desktop Monetization and Mobile Monetization: enable to show display ads in this player on those kinds of devices.

  • Play Ads when Player is not In-View. A player is considered in-view when it is in an active tab and at least 50% of it is on the users’ screen.

  • Display Refresh Intervals. Set the display ads refresh interval for viewable and non-viewable state of the player on different devices. Click on the interval number to change it.

Advanced Customization and Reporting

All AnyClip players can be further customized with CSS.

You can also add an Embed Code Variant parameter for easier A/B testing when embedding a player on a page.

Per player monetization reporting is available via Custom Reports.
