SEO Support in the Watch Using the Video Sitemap

A video sitemap is a sitemap with additional information about the videos that are hosted on your Hub . The video sitemap helps Google find and understand the video content on your Hub , especially content that was recently added or that was not detected by Google's usual crawling mechanisms.

To use the video sitemap in your website, do the following:

  1. Go to the Watch General settings, and enable SEO, which will create the video sitemap with information detailed below.

  2. In your robots.txt file, add the URL for the video sitemap. To get this URL, contact your AnyClip account manager.

  3. Once the sitemap is created, the robots.txt file should be directed to the sitemap file by inserting the following line anywhere in the robots.txt file:

    Sitemap: http://example.com/sitemap_location.xml

Note

The video sitemap will only need to be added once to your robots.txt file. The video sitemap will automatically be updated on an hourly basis to reflect the actual, existing videos.

Video sitemap attributes

The video sitemap should include the following attributes:

  • URL Loc (the host page where one or more of the videos are hosted)

  • Video Thumbnail Loc

  • Video Description

  • Content Location

  • Video Duration

  • Video View Count

  • Video Publication Date
