Overview

The Watch Chips feature enhances the AnyClip platform by introducing dynamic buttons called "chips" that enable easy content exploration for viewers. These chips, inspired by YouTube, are prominently displayed on the main page, providing an intuitive way to browse and discover videos based on specific tags.

Each chip represents a tag that can be generated from different tag categories, including People, Brands, IAB Categories, Keywords, and Custom Tags. Viewers can access curated video collections associated with these tags, promoting exploration and engagement with content aligned with their interests.

Popular tags, known as "Top" tags, are highlighted on the main page, ensuring an optimal user experience. Selecting a chip maintains the current page while dynamically updating the list of channels (if applicable) and displaying videos to reflect the chosen tag. This enhances user engagement and encourages editors to utilize the Tags feature more extensively.

The Watch Chips feature seamlessly integrates with both Internal and External watch types. Configuration of the feature can be easily managed through the Watch Settings UI, empowering AnyClip users to tailor the feature to their specific requirements.

Chips Configuration

The Watch Chips feature can be enabled or disabled via the Watch Settings page, specifically under the "Chips" tab.

The Chips tab includes the following configurable settings:

  • Enable Chips: This setting determines whether chips are displayed on the Watch UI (default: False).

  • Tag Types: A list of tag categories to be used for generating chips, with the ability to enable or disable each category:

    • People (enabled by default)

    • Brands (enabled by default)

    • IAB Categories (enabled by default)

    • Keywords (disabled by default)

    • Custom Tag Categories (disabled by default)

    • Custom Tag Values (enabled by default)

  • Pinned Chips: A static list of chips to appear at the beginning of the chip list on the Watch UI, sorted alphabetically. These chips appear when they deliver fewer videos than the Chips Threshold setting but more than zero.
Users can reorder Pinned chips with Drag&Drop.

  • Pages: A multi-select option to determine the watch pages where chips should be displayed (e.g., Main, Channel, Player pages). Main, Channel, and Player pages are selected by default.

  • Chips Threshold: A positive integer (default: 3) defining the minimum number of videos associated with a chip to display it on the Watch UI.

  • Chips List Threshold Min: A positive integer or zero (default: 3) specifying the minimum number of chips required to display the Chips List. Note that the "All" chip is not counted towards this threshold.

  • Chips List Threshold Max: A positive integer below 100 (default: 30) indicating the maximum number of chips to display in the Chips List. This value should be greater than the Chips List Threshold Min. If set to zero, the Chips List is hidden.
