This section describes supported video file formats you can use when uploading videos to the AnyClip Platform, the output file format used by the AnyClip Platform as well as other relevant information concerning video upload.

Supported Source Video Formats

AnyClip supports the following file formats

  • mp4

  • mov

  • mpeg

  • avi

  • qt

  • m4v

  • mpg

  • mpe

  • mts

  • m2ts

  • ts

  • m3u

  • m3u8

  • webm

  • wmv

The maximum file size you can upload is 5GB or 2 hours, whichever is less.

Competability Notes

  • If file upload in one of the above formats fails, please contact AnyClip Support

  • Videos compressed using zlib are not supported

  • Video that contain two audio tracks and one of these audio tracks is inverted are likely to fail transcription processes


As a rule of thumb, AnyClip recommends uploading videos with the highest possible resolutions.

Along with the raw videos, users can upload thumbnails. When thumbnails are not uploaded with a particular video, AnyClip will create thumbnails for the video in various resolutions.

Video File Output

Once uploaded, AnyClip converts the video into MP4 and HLS formats. It creates several video versions in the below resolutions (depending on the uploaded file resolution):

  • 270p

  • 360p

  • 480p

  • 720p

  • 1080p

HLS output:

  • Video codec: H264

  • Audio codec: AAC

  • Container: MPEGTS

MP4 output:

  • Video codec: H264

  • Audio codec: AAC

  • Container: MP4

When videos are played back, AnyClip presents the version of the video in the best resolution suitable for viewers' device, available bandwidth, type/size of the player being used as well as other criteria to create an optimal viewing experience as well as support the maximum number of viewing devices with which the videos can be viewed.
