This feature allows authorized users to create automatic closed caption ("cc") translations of a video's original source language based on a predefined set of languages. Once one or more closed caption translations have been created for a particular video as described below, any viewer of the video can select the cc language from a list of available cc languages and watch the video with its translation.
A cookie ensures that the selected cc translation language remains the default cc language for all subsequent videos user views unless the user selects another language.
Note
Please note that customers are required to specifically opt-in for this feature in order to use it while taking into consideration that this functionality entails additional costs. Additionally, it is necessary to contact an AnyClip representative in order to perform basic setup tasks at the video source level.
Once the proper setup of Automatic CC translations has been completed, in order to create CC translations automatically for a specific language, authorized users ( i.e with an appropriate user role such as "Editor"/"Contributor") proceed as follows:
To the right of the Video, click the horizontal three-dot menu button and choose Video Information
Select the Assets Tab. under the Closed Captions section. Select + Closed Captionsand then Auto Translation To
Select the desired language or languages (more than one selection is possible) and click Translate.
The translation process will then begin. Once the process is complete you will see a new *.vtt file appear with the selected language on the list of files in the Closed Captions section. If the status of the translated file is "Failed", please repeat the steps above. Once a particular cc language *.vtt file is created, the cc language will disappear from the list of cc languages to which a video can be translated.
You can hover on the right-hand side of each translation .vtt file to download it or delete it.
Caution
DO NOT delete the first automatically translated file since this file holds metadata about the video's source language that is essential for future translations. In case the original automatically translated file was deleted, the Auto Translate to option will be grayed out and no further translations will be possible. Only an authorized user can correct this by accessing the Advanced tab and selecting Soundtrack Analysis to recreate the first file.
Once translations to all the desired languages are complete and the video is in the desired Watch/player, any viewer can select one of the available cc languages by clicking the Gear icon:
Note
When the automatic translation process is complete, authorized users can upload readymade cc translation files in .vtt format manually. To do this see step 2 above. Simply select Upload Caption instead of Auto Translate to and upload the .vtt file. It will be added to the list of cc translation files and labeled as manual.
