Configuring Dynamic Playlists for Watch Channels

The articles shows how to create dynamic playlists for a watch channel

Updated over a week ago

In addition to static playlists, which contain videos manually added by the user configuring the channel, Watch Channels can include dynamic content.

Dynamic playlists are generated on-the-fly when the Watch is rendered on the end-user's side. These playlists can include videos that were recently added or updated in the AnyClip Platform, making them an excellent way to display fresh and relevant content.

Once the channel is created it is ready to create a dynamic playlist as it is described below.

Creating a Dynamic Playlist for a Watch Channel

To create a dynamic playlist, the user configuring the Watch can add an AI Block of one of the following types:

  1. Recent Videos AI Block

    • Displays videos that were recently added to the AnyClip Platform.

  2. Trending Videos AI Block

    • Highlights the most trending videos on the AnyClip Platform.

Configuring AI Blocks

When adding an AI block, users can customize the playlist by applying filters and defining the number of videos to include. The process involves the following steps:

  1. Set the Number of Videos:

    • Before configuring filters, specify the maximum number of videos to be returned by the AI block.

  2. Setting Filters:

    • Use the Filter Panel on the left to define criteria such as:

      • System Tags: Attributes like People, Brands, and Brand Safety.

      • Custom Tags: User-defined tags for categorization.

      • Keywords: Specific terms to filter videos.

      • Media Type: Choose between audio, video, or both.

      • Video Targeting: Target specific audiences or contexts.

      • Language: Select the language of the videos.

  3. Applying Filters:

    • Click the Apply Filter button to filter the video list based on the selected criteria.

  4. Saving Filters to AI Blocks:

    • Once satisfied with the filters, save them to the AI block by clicking the Save to Recency/Trending Block button. This ensures the dynamic playlist reflects the configured filters and number of videos.

Rules and Limitations

  • Each Watch Channel playlist can include only one AI block of each type (i.e., one Recent Videos AI Block and one Trending Videos AI Block per channel).

  • AI blocks automatically refresh the content they deliver, ensuring the dynamic playlist remains up-to-date.

Dynamic content provides an efficient way to keep your Watch Channels fresh, relevant, and engaging for end-users by leveraging the power of AI to automate playlist creation.
